Governor’s budget cuts Oregon’s rooftop solar tax credit

The new 2017-19 budget indicates that solar tax credits have been retracted, and as a result, the Department of Energy’s budget has been slashed by 78%, from $182.2 million to $40.8 million. Governor Kate Brown explains that this was due to the defunct state of the Business Energy Tax Credit. However, there is still support for the Residential Energy Tax Credit. The co-chairs of the Joint Interim Committee on Department of Energy Oversight have drafted recommendations for the continuation of credit by two years or until a replacement program is established.
